Geopark Activities : Things To Do
We offer a wide variety of Geopark Activities and events, for more details click on the links below :-
- how to reach GeoMôn UNESCO Global Geopark – road, bus, train, ferry etc details
- routes across Wales via other UNESCO designated sites to GeoMôn – why not visit other spectacular places en route – such as Eryri slate landscape, Dyfi biosphere, Pontcysyllte aqueduct?
- exhibits at the Geopark visitor centre in Porth Amlwch – open from Easter till October
- Join one of our Guided walks for a small charge – check out last year’s GeoMon Field Trip diary
- Organise your own walk using our self-guided geotrail leaflets which you can download for free or buy a printed copy from the Geopark visitor centre in Porth Amlwch for a nominal charge
- learn about the history of our visitor centre (The Watch House) in the historic harbour of Porth Amlwch
- take a geo-wander around Holyhead seeing how geology been used in building the town and influencing its environment, harbour, brakewater, quarry etc.
- Explore our wonderful coastline using the Anglesey Coastal Footpath – Anglesey was the first county in Wales to have a complete coastal footpath (Wales is the first country in the world to have a complete National footpath)
- EVENTS organised by other organisations
- visit our on-line shop to buy one of our guide books, from a short guide to Rhoscolyn to a full description of the entire Coastal footpath or a detailed account of the geology often adopted as university course text.
- Attend geotalks at Henllys HPB
- Wellbeing Bingo – a range of simple activities to help you relax and enjoy our environment
- Competitions
- Why not be adventurous and combine geology with kayaking, see geology from the water with our very experienced kayak leader, Andy.
- Explore neighbouring areas through the collection of North-East Wales Geological trail leaflets
There are many videos available online but this is a particularly good trip around the coastline on youtube.

Check out the “Weatherman Walking” series in which BBC Wales weatherman Derek Brockway leads a walk; which episodes are available varies but there are several walks on Anglesey, for example along the Menai Strait & Plas Coch, around Moelfre, from Porth Swtan to Cemlyn, Beaumaris to Penmon.
