NE Wales Geological trail leaflets
These NE Wales Geological trail leaflets were produced by NEWRIGS [North East Wales RIGS group], a partner to the Gwynedd and Môn RIGS who were the founders of GeoMôn. Under the leadership of Professor Cynthia Burek the group produced a series of geological trails around towns in Clwyd, including a guide to the Llangollen steam railway. They can all be downloaded here for free. There are also a couple of leaflets for further afield, Conwy and Caernarfon, since Gwynedd is no longer covered by a RIGS group.t
These trails explore the relevant towns looking at various buildings and examining their architecture, history and the various building stone used in their construction – whilst also trying to trace the source of these building stones. Sometimes also looking at geological features in the area.
