The Watch House pier which was built in 1816 with a lighthouse erected in 1819. In 1853 the Watch House (our Geopark centre) was built to house the ‘hobblers’ while waiting their task of rowing out to meet incoming ships and tow them into harbour, guide them to their berths and eventually to tow them out again.

Our visitor centre is normally open as above but please note that we are entirely staffed by volunteers and opening hours are dependent on the goodwill and availability of our knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers). If traveling specially, please contact Martin on martin@geomon.org.uk or 07808095004 before making a special trip.

Visit GeoMôn’s Geopark Centre to see new special displays relating the changing geology to climate change throughout geological time

Our Geopark Centre has a display of all the major rock types of Anglesey – do you recognise these rocks, if not come and see them, ask our volunteers to explain them.

Our volunteers can give advice on our geology and landscape, and on where to see the various rocks and fossils. We also sell various guide books, self-guided trail leaflets and various other geological information.

Outside, we have constructed a geological “clock” to show rocks of all ages, especially those found on Anglesey..
